Description Inscription on paper attached to frame written by Joe Hanks Van Cleave: "Crescent Bay", near Laguna Beach, Ca.
Joe, Aunt Helen and Julia rented the top apartment for a week while Joe's "one woman show" was on for 5 weeks at Laguna Beach Art Gallery Museum, August 1962 - We lived in Whittier at the time and Helen was visiting us. Joe Van Cleave Rancho Mirage, CA. Oct. 3, 1993 April 2017 - Upon removing this piece from the frame, it was discover that JHVC painted on both sides of the paper. Side #1 untitled "Victorian House". Side #2 title uncertain "Crescent Bay Tower House". Due to the discovery of the second painting it is unclear which house was rented by JHVC in 1962. An inquiry has been made to the Laguna Beach Historical Society. Signature Signed lower left: Joe Van Cleave -62- (Side #2)
Condition April 2017 - The painting was removed from it's original frame and reframed with Side #1 on the front with a window on the back of the frame to expose the Side #2.
